Piscataway, NJ 21 January 2013 – The IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (IEEE-ISTO), a federation of leading industry groups and consortia dedicated to the advancement of standardized technologies for the benefit of industry, today announced its 2013 Board of Directors, which includes two new additions.  Allan Foster, VP Community, ForgeRock, and Michael Violette, President of Washington Laboratories and Director of American Certification Body, were newly elected to serve on the Board.

The IEEE-ISTO Board of Directors oversees the governance, financial, and strategic aspects of the organization, including the IEEE-ISTO budget, the IEEE-ISTO Business Plan, and the IEEE-ISTO Marketing Plan.  Directors also serve to promote the benefits of industry and government organizations partnering with IEEE-ISTO.

Allan Foster has over 25 years of experience in the high-tech industry, comprised of executive management, as well as in depth technical experience.  Allan is a strong advocate for standards and interoperability having served as representative on various standards bodies, ranging from ANSI committees (Smalltalk, C++ and Forth), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Liberty Alliance Project, Kantara Initiative and Oasis.

With over 25 years of experience in the field of EMC evaluation and product approval, Michael Violette is President of Washington Laboratories and Director of American Certification Body.  Michael also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL), RABQSA and on the advisory board for the International Association of Radio and Telecommunications Engineers (iNARTE).
